With extremely humid air and a temperature more than twice that of what is on the other side of the room the green house contains things alien to winter. With multiple small pink flowers and yellow centers this plant was one of the few with much color in the building. It did not have much substance with only a few small flowers and a long skinny shaft but that did not stop it from bringing focus to its self.
The picture is very specific, and doesn't show the lack of color elsewhere in the room, which is an interesting part of the writing. However, the image also does a better job showing the simple elegance of the flowers, for which words would be difficult to find. The words do a better job establishing the surrounding area, mentioning temperature, humidity, and surrounding plants. The picture does a better job describing the plant, and focuses on it alone.

ReplyDeleteA photograph is used to bring attention to a small detail. In this photo attention is being shifted towards the flower head with the stem of the plant blurring more and more out of focus as it goes down towards the ground.
The text describes the environment in which the plant lives in. From the photo one is unable to grasp the feel of the room or the scale of the plant. The text coves those aspects while the photo covers the others.
